I had a lap done for gallbladder 5 weeks ago and have experienced increasing pain in my upper abdomen.  My surgeon said it was normal to still have pain and attacks for up to 3 weeks post op, but 5 weeks later they continue.  Did they do a intraperative cholangiogram?  They were unable to do one on me because my duct was too small, and now my family dr. thinks I maybe have a bile leak or duct obstruction.  I have to have something called a ERCP.  Just make sure that you let your doc know how you feel, and if after a few weeks it still has not subsided, check it out!  Bile duct leaks and obstructions can cause a lot of damage, and the sooner it is treated, the better.  I hope it is just the gas pain mentioned above, because she's right, it is really painful.  Good Luck and let me know if you have questions.

Thank you for responding.  I am still having pain in my upper abdomen.  My surgeon made it sound that I shouldn't expect any post op discomfort and I am surprised to hear you can expect pain and attacks 3 weeks following surgery. A am still having the pain of a gall bladder attack and can't stand any pressure on my upper abdomen.  I have never heard of an ERCP procedure.  I am interested to know what your surgeons said  regarding the lap procedure and how you are doing now.
