Hello, I am a 25 year old female.  6 weeks ago I had my
gallbladder removed.  The first two weeks following the surgery
I was fine, but now I have this burning pain in my chest and my
stomach is so inflammed. I have been on prevacid for about 3
weeks (I also have GERD).  Antacids don't work, although this
papaya enzyme supplement has been helping me digest food easier.
Before the surgery, I was diagnosed with gastritis and a
small hitatel hernia. My question:  Is this upset stomach and
burning pain normal after gallbladder surgery and does gastritis
ever go away.  I just want to get my health back.
Thanks, Kerry

Dear Kerry,
It is difficult to know why you have developed these problems after the gall bladder surgery.
Esophagitis or gastritis could be the cause.  Both these conditions can resolve with therapy, although symptomatic recurrence is frequent.
