Recent gall bladder surgery.

I recently had gallbladder surgery and wondered if I should continue to take the drug lopid.  After reading that it could indeed cause gallbladder problems which I did not know.

Lopid is an anti-cholesterol medication that is primarily used to bring down the triglycerides and raise the HDL (i.e. good cholesterol).

It does cause an increased incidence of gallstones, but if you have had your gallbladder removed, this should be less of an issue.

In any case, I would discuss this question with your surgeon or personal physician before re-starting the medication, but there does not seem to be an absolute contraindication to its use.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
