Rectal Bleeding

Recently I have noticed a lot of pain in the top left chest area I notice it more when I cough.  I have not been feeling very good recently I have not been nauseas, just pain in the general stomach/liver area. When I had a bowel movement lately I noticed blood when I cleaned up (wiping). But today when I had a bm there was quite a bit of blood in the toilet and streaked on the waste. Again later I felt like I had to have another bm but nothing passed but when I wiped there was alot of brite red blood on the tissue.  I have had some bleeding before due to hemroids but nothing like this. I have been taking pain meds (ultreset) blood pressure med (hysaar) and I have just recently been dia. with diabetes 2 and taking (glucophage 500mg twice daily. I don't know if any of this has anything to do with what is going on now.I know that I just don't quite feel right. Should this be something to be real concerned about.

Hemorrhoids, polyps, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulosis and colitis are all possibilities.  

In any case of persistant rectal bleed, some kind of lower endoscopy would be recommended to evaluate for these conditions and to narrow down the source of the bleed - this can include a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy.
