This is my question.  A few years ago I was diagnosed with hep.C. Upon getting a second opinion I was also informed that I have hemachromatosis.  Now for the hema. I went through the blood drawing. Once a week for approx. 6 months.  At that time I was told that the iron count was way down and that my liver count was also down, basically back to norma.  Now I have a check-up each year, in which they do blood tests for the hema. and the hep.  Right now all levels are down, within normal range, and have been since I saw the "vampires" and they drained me.  I was just wondering if maybe the hema. could throw out "false" signals and could have made it look as though I have hep.C.  I have had two liver biops. done and they showed that there was a little cirrosis (cirrhosis) and such.  Could one be related to the other in as much as one causing the other?  I haven't been going through any other treatments except for the "vampire" episode and I actually feel okay.  Thanks for your response.

This is just my two cents (I'm not a doctor).
Hepatitis C is a virus, and it's detected through a blood test (If they find the virus in your blood, they diagnose you with Hepatitis C).

Hemochromatosis is "iron overload". It's detected through a blood test too. (High iron, high ferritin, etc.). But it's not a virus.

So, if they detected both in your blood----the virus AND iron overload----I would think that you have both.

I have heard of people with Hepatitis C and Hemochromatosis.
Here's the weird part---
Hepatitis C (the virus) gets worse, when iron overload is present.

So you are doing the exact right thing---by keeping this iron under control. (Getting rid of the extra iron).
