: Could you please tell me if removing the omentum lining could result in being unable to absorb vitamin B-12?  Thanks in

Dear Rose, The omental lining has nothing to do with B12 absorption. B12 is absorbed in the distal (most distant part
from the mouth) small intestine. When B12 malabsoption is detected, the physician must evaluate the patient for distal
ileal disease (Crohn's Disease or surgical resection), pernicious anemia, bacterial overgrowth of the small bowel and
pancreatic insufficiency.
