Ruptured colon and burst appendix

In July 2001 I had emergency surgery for a burst appendix, but once 'in'the surgeon also found an abscess the size of a grapefruit and that my colon had ruptured. 5 hour surgery, one week hospital stay and a scar a good 12 inches long. My question - a) should I still be having stomach aches, my surgeon's english was not good enough for him to really explain my condition and my doctor just keeps giving me more painkillers and b) anyone know how on earth I can make this hideous scar less obvious.

i just had colon surgery and i have had several other surgeries the one thing i have found to help with scaring(believe it or not is niosporen antibiotic ( i hope i spelled that correctly )but i started putting it on directly after surgery .the other thing you may want to try is pure cocoa butter .i know the scar is unsightly but after a year it should start to fade .don't let it get you down if it doesn't go away .what counts is your inner being and that your alive.the body is just a vesel.and no you should not be having stomach aches this long after sugery .you need to inform your gastro/digestive specialest so they can check it out .how often is the stomach aches and how severe? as for the doctor that keeps handing you pain killers instead of finding the problem with your health .get rid of him and get a second opion.unless you know what you are giving pain killers for it could cover up a more serious problem.
