SEVERE CHRONIC NAUSEA

SEVERE CHRONIC NAUSEA

I have had some major medical problems lately.  I have had chronic and sever nausea since Febuary 10th.  I have PCOS and was on Provera for 10 days.  Then when my period started was the day my nausea began and just got worse from there.  They thought it was hormonal at first.  Then they thought liver.  The sonogram came back with a fatty liver which they said was normal.  Then I did a nuclear test for my gallbladder.  They said it was slow exiting the gallbladder but ok.  I am scheduled to have an Upper G.I. in the next week, but my doctor is not confident on knowing what this could be.  Nothing seems to bring it on, it is just constantly there.  The nausea is sometimes good and then can be REALLY bad.  I have had some bladder infections (coulture came back ok).  I have cysts on ovaries that requires them to be burned off ( supposingly no biggie) in loproscopic surgery.  I have a million things going on but NO relief for nausea.  They have me on phengren which does not always help.  Can you give me some suggestions on a possible diagnosis on my nausea.  HELP!!!  I have no relief and life is unbareable.

I agree with further evaluation of the upper GI tract.  Anatomical issues, like a mass or stricture, should be considered.  The upper GI, or even better, an upper endoscopy, would be the appropriate tests to evaluate for this.

More specialized GI tests, like a 24-hr pH study or gastric emptying scan can be considered as well.

If the symptoms continue, you can look outside the GI system.  There are some neurological diseases that may lead to chronic nausea.  A head CT or MRI can be considered if this is suspected.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I can relate to how SEVERE CHRONIC NAUSEA FEELS.
Somedays I am just fine but then out of the blue my face is hot and my hands are sweaty, and I think I am going to vomit but my stomach is never feeling queezy!!  I don't understand it at all... I take gravol and that helps a bit but it is the random thing that is unbearable.. I had to leave work because of it yesterday and was scared to drive home....

I too have been having this nausea for well over a month now.  I have gyno issues as well, but it is when I eat that I feel soooooo sick.  Some are telling me this is gallbladder. Do I need to pursue this avenue now?  I am so sick (literally) of doctors. I've  lost quite a few lbs. b/c of this, which I don't mind, but I can't continue like this. I have a abdomen that looks as though I'm five months pregnant due to adenomyosis.  Could this also cause severe nausea, especially after I eat?  Thanks.

Well, I am almost queezy every single day.  The actual nausea is what comes and goes.  Sometimes not so bad and then at times where I can not manage to even walk to the bathroom.  I have had my gallbladder cleared pretty much.  I am awaiting the upper g.i. results, but if that is not it I just cannot imagine what it could be.  I will say that I know my doctor is trying to figure it out, but it is a slow process.  The nausea is so bad that no matter how tired I get of the doctors and tests, I will keep fighting because I cannot live this way much longer!!!

I got the results a minute ago from my upper g.i.  The doctor said they found severe stomach inflammation and they were conserned enough to refer me to a g.i doctor.  I do not know what this could mean.  Could you give me some possibilities this could be, good and bad please?  Thank you so much!
