SEVERE Stomach Problems

Posted By Melinda on June 02, 1998 at 18:31:16:

About 10 years ago, post vertical banded gastroplasty surgery,
I began to experience severe reflux problems.  After an Upper GI
test, my doctor started me on Zantac.  It helped, some.  My
reflux got progressively worse, so I was graduated to Prilosec.
As my symtoms (symptoms) further worsened, I was told that I had Bile Reflux,
and to have gall-bladder surgery, which I did.  It helped some.
About a year ago I did some research and found that I was
probably lactose intolerant, and began to take Lactaid Ultra.
It helped some.  I am, at present taking two 20 mg Prilosec a day
and two 10 mg Propulsid.  I have had many digestive problems
since childhood (very frequent sour stomachs, etc.) and wonder
if there is not another problem.  Before starting with the
Lactaid I vomited frequently (three to four times a week, at
least).  I now only vomit after eating about once every two weeks.
I still experience severe pain when I eat, and am at my wits' end
about what is going on.  During all the testing I had an
endoscopy, and have been prescribed two rounds of treatment for
helicobactor pylori, which help for a while.
I have recently read about Motility Disorder, and would like to
know specific symptoms of this condition.  Could that be my
problem, or do you have any ideas about what it could be?  Do I
simply need to have surgery on my hiatal hernia?
