Seratonin levels and the stomach

Have you heard your stomach is effected by seratonin levels and that if you take a depression medication like Celexa it could help the levels so your stomach could in fact heal,
Still having more tests and wanting to increase diet with comfort. Honestly we are all happy when our stomach is.
I am not one to take medications and lifestyle and bland diet are secure. What do you think ?

The Standard American Diet (SAD) is sad. It is the primary cause of the difficulties that you and the rest of us face here in the good old USA, also ther westernized countries.

Gastroenterologists are not needed in third world countries, for the most part. Its the MODERN way of life = eating of western diet that is killing us with digestive problems, diabetes, and heart disease et. al.

I strongly encourage you to let the good foods push the bad / processed foods off your plate. Begin to juice (pulp separated from the juice, discard the pulp) several times per day. This will feed your cells, may cause some detoxification, and begin to heal your body including the G.I. tract.

If you experience detoxification, then adjustments must be made.

Raw fruits and vegetables eaten properly along with other lifestyle changes

can radically, and I mean radically, improve your health.

Let the digestive tract rest and heal. Healing comes from cellular feeding and activity.

I was told by my doctor that antidepressants can help IBS because seratonin affects the brain and the stomach.

I was having lots of stomach  pain on 60 mg or prevacid. I thought it was caused by the prevacid. Does anyone know if 60 mg of prevacid is safe ? Anyway I changed my psychiatric medication and went back on prozac and the stomach pain is gone most of the time. I also drink one cup of green tea a day and try to eat smaller meals. Serotonin from the prozac helps, I think. Prozac is generic now, so its cheaper than the other types of SSRI drugs.

I appreciate all your comments,
I have been eating potatoes, eggs, apples, water, cream of wheat,Choice diabetic drink, corn chips, bananas, white toast. and weigh 112 which is too thin for me. We have not eaten out in over 8 months. I use no alcohol, caffeine, chocolate.
Trying to introduce chicken in small amounts. Still feel with all the tests and more ahead of me as listed in many posts. That my digestive system is out of order and If I could eat normal again, The energy and no more abdominal pain..........Any thoughts

I had a GI doctor convince me to try Zoloft for my dyspesia/gastritis.  It was the wors week of my life!! The side effects from these medications are very bad.  Yes, there appears to be some evidence that it may help in IBS, but I honestly think the MD's use anti-depressants to freely.  I would try other options first. These drugs also cause withdrawl (withdrawal) problems.  Needless to say I stopped after 1 week.

Zoloft caused stomach pain for me. I take a small does of prozac (10 mg). All the other SSRI medications had bad side effects for me.
