Surgery for Gallstones

My mother, aged 72 years, is having gall bladder stones. She has also asthma and backache (spinal cord problem) problems.
She fears surgery. How safe the surgery for a patient like her is?
Is there an alternative?
Please advise.

There is alway a risk that is associated with surgery of any kind. But take comfort in the fact that the doctor wold not be performing it if he did not think she was healthy enough to come through it. The best way to fight it is with education...you can go to www.liver.ca

All the best

Have your Mom ask her doctor about Actigall.  It is a medication that is used to disolve stones.  It is very slow acting so might take time to disolve them.  But have her ask her doctor and see what he says.  Good luck!
