Symtoms

My son is 17 years old and about a month ago he began to experince clumpier and bulkier stools. This went on for a while until he discovered some streaks of bright red blood in his stools (one small streak per occasion). The blood was always very near the surface and very thinly spread. This occured at least 5 times. We went to the doctor and he requested stool samples to test for blood, but we have not yet recieved the results. Recently, he began to complain of stomach cramps, but they came and went within a week so we have dismissed it as stomach flu (which his freind also had). The stools that he passes have been rather consistant, bulky and sometimes hard to pass, he says. The final problem is that he says that he becomes tired earlier than usual at night. Could you please give me any feedback on what these symptoms could possibly indicate? Thank you.

Does your son have anal pain, itching or burning?
Was he examined for Hemorrhoids? The doctor may want to do a  sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy and blood work.
