To RF: A surprising diagnosis

Dear RF:  My gastro Dr. called me with some disturbing news.  He says I have Mastocytosis.  He said he found an abundance of mast cells throughout my digestive system via stained biopsy slides.  He has scheduled me for a cat scan, bone density, and skin biopsy. I also found a nodule in my breast a month ago, and had a mammogram, and ultrasound to confirm it.  I am scheduled for an open  breast biopsy on the 21st. (positive family history) Anyway,  I know thats not your dept. (wrong end...:-) but, I am wondering if you know whether or not Mastocytosis could cause multiple small nodules in various places on the body?  I believe I am feeling very small nodules in fatty/fibrous areas on my body.  The information on mastocytosis is VERY limited, so I have been unable to learn much about it.  What I have read, fits.  Also, can you follow me for this disease? I don't mean to insult you with that question as I believe you to be very competent, but it is such a rare disease..I was wondering if I should be seeing some other type of doctor?  I have an appt. scheduled at your facility for 11/3.  Should I keep it?  Thanks, Skorchee
