Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy

Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy

In August I underwent a Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy procedure. During the procedure my urethra canal was burned rather severly. I've been told by three different urologist that the only treatment is time. It is now November and I still can't void without burning and pain. I've also been told that I might have to undergo surgery (TURP) to clear out all the dead cells and extraneous debri. Will my urethra canal eventually heal and will the surgery eliminate my problem? Also is there in correlation between the problems I'm having with my urethra canal and my prostate that would effect my bowel movements. My bowel movements don't seem to be normal and I don't have an urge to have a bowel movement even when taking a strong laxative.

Tough to say for sure without examination.  The healing time from this complication can vary from patient to patient.  It is also possible that the surgery would help with the symptoms.

Normally, prostate issues do no affect bowel movements.  Unless the prostate is markedly enlarged, I would look for another cause.  A colonoscopy would be the most comprehensive test to evaluate the bowel movements.
