Upper Left Adominal(abdominal) Pain

I've been experiencing adominal (abdominal) pain in the upper left region (below bra line) for about 2 months, at times the pain radiates to my back.  I intially went to see my Internist who took an in-depth blood test which was normal. My bowel habits are normal and I have no heartburn or digestive symptoms. It almost feels like a side-stitch however, im not exercising.

Problems in that area can include an ulcer, inflammation of the upper digestive tract (esophagitis or gastritis), GERD or an anatomical abnormality.  Inflammation of the pancreas can also cause pain in that area.

I would have blood tests looking at the pancreatic enzymes, as well as an upper GI series (or upper endoscopy) to further workup the symptoms.  A blood test looking for H Pylori (a bacteria associated with ulcers or inflammation) can also be considered.

You may want to discuss these options with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
