Very Small Colon/Enlarged Liver

Back in April I had post menopause bleeding.Had uterine biopsy and pap both normal showed septated cyst on 1 ovary. Went for 2nd opinion.Had CT Scan showed cyst,fibroids,and enlarged liver(i am over weight) No retroperitoneal adenopathy or abdominal ascites.Large bowel/transverse colon demonstrates a very diminished caliber with absence of bowel gas.Unknown etiolgy.Multiple loops of small bowel noted in mid line aslo diminished in caliber. perirectal fat well maintained. No evidence of adenopathy free standing fluid or bony abnormailty.Went to my gastro doctor with Cat Scan films & report.He told me he has never seen anything like this.He thinks I may have a birth defect I never knew about or maybe colitis.I am having a coloscopy on Monday. I have no blood in stool, sometimes slight cramping.I go 3 times a day at times soft,some thin stool, and sometimes normal.Other than that no other problems.Had blood work CA 125, CEA, were normal. 27.29 was high 78. Had a mammo that was normal.My gastro doctor said by my cat scan he doubts I have colon cancer becuase colon is so small not large.
I am 54 no family history of colon cancer. I am so confused I don't know what to make of all this.Last Cbc iin May all was normal along with liver function.Have you ever heard of this before? I really don't want the colonscopy but have no choice becuase my onconlogist/gyn won't do D&C without it. i may never go for a 2nd opinion again becuase i was fine until I did it seems.
Any past experience with this or anything you could tell me would be greatly apperciated.

All the considerations mentioned by your GI physician are possible.  I agree that the colonoscopy would be the most comprehensive approach to evaluate the CT findings.  Any abnormalities in colon caliber needs to be further evaluated to rule out any cancer or inflammatory bowel disease.

I concur with the colonoscopy recommendation.  If negative, colon cancer would be extremely unlikely.

If the tests are non-revealing, another GI opinion can be sought.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
