WHIPPLE PROCEDURE IN CHILDREN

WHIPPLE PROCEDURE IN CHILDREN

my daughter is about to undergo an operation called a "whipple procedure".  She has an abnormal shaped head to her pancreas and this has caused severe attacks of pancreatitus (pancreatitis) and failure to grow.  Does anybody know what function is left of the pancreas after such surgery? Does anybody know of anyone who has had this procedure done before?  My daughter weighs 20.2 kgs and is 8 years old in may.
Your help would be gratefully recieved.
