Well it's official...getting my gallbladder out

Can anyone tell me what the surgery is like and I what I can expect in terms of pain/activity/hospital stay afterwards? I've never had surgery before.

the gallbladder surgery usually takes about a week to recover from as far as getting back to full speed. the stay is generally just a few hours after the surgery is completed.you might feel a little pain in your stomach for a few days. good luck

Good luck with the GB Operation.  Can I ask you (or anyone reading this that knows) what your symptoms of diseased (I'm assuming it's diseased) gallbladder were.  How did you know
you had gallbladder problems and what tests did the doctor
perform to come to this diagnosis.

Thanks Alot!

I also had my gallbladder out about 3 months ago.  I am feeling better than I have in a long, long time.  Little things I had before have completely gone away.  I was having backache, chest pains, joint aches and they are literally gone!  I guess my gallbladder was beginning to affect different things in my body and I had no idea I had trouble.  The surgery is very easy and recouperation is fast.  Good luck.  You'll feel much better!

I think you are doing the right thing.  I did it in June of this year and the only thing I regret is not having done a Hida Scan prior to the surgery.  It reveals all abnormalities with the gallbladder and ducts.  The surgery is quite routine with an experienced doctor.  I was out of it for the day of the surgery because of the morphine they gave me.  But that evening I was already recovering. I went home the next day.  I still have the same symptoms even afterward but I did have a condition called chronic cholycistitis.  I am now going to have the scan done and hope to see what is causing the problem.

Why are you having it out?  Do you have stones?
