What More Can I Do?

In 1998 I had my gall bladder removed. The doctor ripped my bile duct when he removed a stone. He had to cut me open and make a new one. We moved in 1999 to another state. In 2000 I got sick and my Doctor thought it was the flu. I went back 2 days later and was yellow. She thought I had hepatities (sp?). I was put in the hospital when all the tests came back normal. No one could figure out what was wrong with ne until a gastroenterology doctor talked to the doctor that did the operation. Come to find out the first doctor was worried I'd get scar tissue in the bile tube but never told me.

A x-ray doctor made the duct larger so the bile could go where it should. In the mean time I have liver damage from the bile backing up in it. In Feb of 2002 she had a hard time getting to the bile duct to make it bigger again because ot closed up again. She said she has to leave the drainage tube in because if she has to keep repoking my liver it could kill me one of these times. This way the hole is already there and she can just change the tube from time to time. I have suffered with bile burns on my skin, infections and pain from the tube inside of me. My gastro dr is trying to find something else to do because he doesn't like the tube hanging out of me like I don't like it.
He doesn't want to operate unless he really has to. He said the stints they have right now are perment and if it becomes pluged (plugged) he'd have to cut me open to remove it. He can't get to it from my mouth or the other way because it's in a strange place.

Is there any thing else I can do? I'm tired of this.

Sorry your having such a hard time, I cant imaagine how difficult it is for you to be sick and care for your daughter also.  What did this surgeon have to say for himself, was that medically "legal" of him not to inform you of what he did w/ "YOUR" bile duct. It doesn't sound it!!  Do you have a hepatologist, I think thats how its spelled, a liver doctor??  If not you really should. How do you feel w/ this "bag" attached to you,? is it working? are you in pain? still yellow? I hope they dont plan on just leaving it there. I hope you get some answers....georgie
