What can I do to control this problem?

What can I do to control this problem?

I have had diarrhea for quite some time-approximately 10 years with this problem.  I had seen a gastroenterologist, and through his treatment had the problem under control with use of the following medications: Prilosec(for the acid reflux, which worked fine) and propulsid, for the diarrhea.  As long as I was on these medications, everything went well.  When propulsid was taken off the shelves by order of the FDA, my problem diarrhea began anew.  Other medications were tried: Librax,Reglan,Bentyl,Xanax,Levsinex,Phenergan.  None of thes worked either because of ineffectiveness with the diarrhea, or because of drowsiness.  My job is in jeopardy, since I work in a technical area and cannot do my best work with this problem.  Please, any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

A close relative of mine takes codeine phosphate for a similar condition but which has resulted from a drastic resectioning many years ago for Crohn's disease.  This slows the system down and enables her to cope without a colostomy.  I have seen how debilitating this condition can be for someone, so I do sympathise. I don't know if this drug would be at all appropriate for your condition, or what its long-term effects on your health might be, but it may be worth raising it with your doc.

Best of luck,
Julie
