What coulod this be?

I was diagnosed with drug induced cholestatic hepatitis after taking the acne drug minocin. I had every sort of test imaginable including the one where they go down your throat with a camera (they thought I had a stone in my bile duct based on results from a liver scan - it wasn't). I also had a liver biopsy that the pathologist said suggested PBC. I do not have the associated PBC antibdies so my doctor does not believe it to be that. Since the initial diagnosis of hepatitis my liver enzymes have peaked and are heading down. My doctor prescribed Actigall that I take with meals 3X a day. I have had this problem since Thanksgiving and am still bothered by intense itching - not bad at all during the day but seems to come out at night.
My doctor had all my test results and bipsy frames sent to a Dr. Levine at University Hospital in Syracuse to see if he could come up with a diagnosis. In the mean time I have no idea what could be going on. Any ideas?

Hello,

I have had intense itching that was not touched by any antihistamines.  I also have hepatitis and the itching is caused or could be caused by bile salts that are absorbed and causing dematitis. I feel for you I was not even sleeping.  A few weeks ago I was started on a medication that binds with the bile salts and the itching has finally abated. Please post again I have hardly come across this and I would like to know what your diagnosis is.

Hope you are feeling better
