Katt - An Octreotide Scan is a nuclear medicine test used to look at various organs of the body that x-rays generally don't pick up. It is generally used to scan for cancers, generally those of the stomach, pancreas, intestines, and thyroid. But it may be used for other organs as well. It will tell where the cancer started and any areas to where it has spread to. Your doctor should give you all the info. you need. Also, the doctor should also tell you what type of prep is involved to get ready for the test. I wish you all the best and good luck.
