Yellow bowel movements

Yellow bowel movements

Three years ago I had my gallbladder removed.  Ever since then I have had constant yellow diarehha.  It comes as soon as I eat ANYTHING.  I can't even go out to eat because I end up in the bathroom halfway thru the meal.  Road trips are terrible.  Even if I dont eat, I still have diarehha at the time I should have eaten, around lunch and dinner time.  I have been to numerous doctors for this and they all put me on the same medication that just doesnt help a bit.  The only thing I have found to curve this is Slim Fast.   If I drink Slim Fast, I have no problems.  Short of being on slim fast the rest of my life, is there any other relief out there?

If you havent done so, you need to make a trip to your local gastoenterologist.  Stool studies will probably be done to exclude and infection and a colonoscopy with biopsies will most likely follow.  This is all done to rule out anything else going on.  The bottom line may be post-cholecystectomy diarrhea.  I assume they put you on Questran or Colestid (bile acid blockers which bind the bile that your gut is now dumping).  Many times family doctors are not aggressive enough with the dosage of these meds as many patients need several dosages several times a day.  After the testing is preformed the may suggest working on controlling the symptoms with things such as high dose Imodium (immodium) or Lomotil.   The key here...is it time to get checked out to see if anything else is going on.
