abdominal/hip pain

I am a 22 yr. old female with a history of hyperthyroidism but otherwise, good health. I am a senior in college focusing in vocal performance and pre-med. For the past couple of days I have experienced pain in my right hip which is localized in one specific area. Every time I touch this one spot on my right hip, it hurts so bad I want to scream. I can't lay on my right side because of my hip. I woke up this morning with severe sharp pains in my lower right quadrant just above my pelvic bone and over my right ovary. Occasionally I experience a cramping above my naval which feels like the pain associated with a virus. My right hip and right leg have a throbbing pain and I had trouble with my BM yesterday. This morning I have had an excess of gas but no smell and no nausia. I was treated for Endometritits 3 weeks ago due to an ectopic pregnancy on Nov. 20, 2005. I have my suspitions as to what my condition is but I wanted a second opinion before I go to our local emergency room.(It doesn't have the best reputation!) Thanks

Difficult to say without examination.  

Ruling out GYN causes with a pelvic exam, pelvic CT, and transvaginal ultrasound can be considered.

GI causes can include inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel disease, or organ disease like appendicitis.  An endoscopy or abdominal/pelvic CT scan can help.  

If these options are non-revealing, an orthopedic referral and imaging the hip can be considered.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
