anal fistula/fibrine glue

anal fistula/fibrine glue

I have had a battle with an anal fistula which has required 2 surgeries and the installation of a seton(permanent drain).  Now i am leaking fecal material all the time thru this drain opening. NASTY!!) The next surgery scheduled end of month uses fibrine glue to try to fill the area.  I guess it is the least invasive. Has anyone had this procedure? Know anything about it?  My doc says it is about 50% successful so it doesnt sound real promising but I have few options since the tissue between the anal canal and vagina are very thin.  I am very distracted/depressed about this literal mess and needed to know if there are another crohnies with similar experiences.  Thanks, Deb

Well I don't have Crohn's but I had a fistula after surgery.  Depending on where the seton is, you may prefer to try the fibrin.  If the seton is going to cut through the rectal muscle you're in for troubles (incontinence...)  I wish you the best of luck, but be sure to ask LOTS of questions...  Good luck to you!
