any good treatments for gas?

I have severe GERD, and can control the symptoms of that, but lately, I have been producing large amounts of gas in my gut. I am on 40 mg Nexium per day. Does anyone know of a good over the counter remedy to counteract all the gas production? I feel bloated all the time. My last GI told me that under no circumstances was I allowed to burp, so I don't burp. It's just uncomfortable. Does anyone know what would cause the gas?

Hi!
My friend has a similar problem and when she consulted the doctor he recommended 'Beano' for it. It is a natural digestive enzyme which should ideally take care of the problem. She just bought it today so will see how it works. You may wish to try that too or I can get back to you after a few weeks to tell u if it works.

You may want to also try Gas-X.

I also found that peanut butter (creamy, organic) calms down belch contractions and gas. Just a small amount on a spoon. Within minutes contractions relax. It also takes away that nexium or PPI stomach  gurgling. (Nothing like sitting in a meeting and having these weird sounds coming out!)

Oh, peanut butter is a good idea. I have some organic peanut butter in the fridge. No preservatives. Thanx for the tip.

In my case, more or less by accident, I discovered that Hi Potency B vitamin capsules reduced gas substantially. Barend

Try Phazyme, available OTC.  It's pricey, can't remember how much, but everytime I buy it I'm amazed by how much it costs.  It really works, I'm a very gassy gal.
