It is a form of infection in the digestive track. Please direct question of how to treat the condition to your son's physician. There are no doctors here at this forum. Just patients. Good luck.

To the mom of the 23 month old child:

You must find a GOOD doctor NOW. You can't let the child lose a pound a week!! That is dangerous!!!

You need to get a proper diagnosis and CORRECT treatments for your child, NOW.

Also, ask your doctor if he or she thinks it would be OK to give the child some BIFIDO-BACTERIA, which are beneficial bacteria (related to "acidophilus"), sold at health food stores. Usually the "bifido-bacteria" are in powdered form, and must be kept in the refrigerator, to keep them fresh. You can mix the BIFIDO-BACTERIA powder ("pro-biotics") with clean water (preferably non-chlorinated, and without fluoride) for the child to drink. Make sure you buy BIFIDO-BACTERIA meant for BABIES to "ingest" (eat/drink). Give only the amount that is right for a 23 month old child.

The bifido-bacteria eat (or compete with the food supply of) BAD BACTERIA that may be in the child's large intestine. Also, the bifido-bacteria eat up BAD YEASTS that multiply AS A RESULT OF a child (or adult) TAKING any ANTI-BIOTICS. Was your child taking any anti-biotics (before the stool tests)?

If you are still nursing the child, you can eat these bifido-bacteria, which will put these beneficial bacteria into mother's milk.

Try putting the child on a gluten-free diet, if you think the child might possibly have CELIAC DISEASE. Ask your doctor about this:

Some children are "allergic" to "GLUTEN", which is found in WHEAT, RYE, OATS, BARLEY, AND BUCKWHEAT. "Safe" grains are RICE and CORN. But many children are allergic to corn, so it may be wise to avoid corn now.

Many children are "allergic" to COW'S MILK. Sometimes they tolerate goat's milk better. Some are allergic to SOY milk. Check with a good ALLERGIST who treats young children.

Make sure the child is not drinking soda pop, or eating any "junk" food. Maybe consult a NUTRITIONIST who deals with babies and children.

Please don't let this problem go on any longer. You are a good mother, to insist on finding out what is going on that is making your child sick. I hope some EXPERTS will read your message, and give you more advice.

Was your child vaccinated just before these problems started? Do not get any more vaccinations while the child is sick. Just in case your child had a bad reaction to a "shot", check out the website  http://www.909shot.com

Sincerely, Concerned Lady
