bleeding in stool

my fiance has been having cramps and diarhea (diarrhea) throughout the day.  she has recently passed some bright colored blood only in her last couple of attempts to go.  nothing else is coming out, but she continues to get cramps.  she has had the cramps and diarhea (diarrhea) before but never the bleeding.  i was reading about diveticulitis and colon ulceritis.

Colitis, gastroenteritis, and inflammatory bowel disease are amongst the possibilities of bloody diarrhea.

I would send the stool off for analysis and culture to exclude infection.

If the bleeding continues, further evaluation can be made with a lower endoscopy.  This can be done with a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy.

These options can be discussed with a GI physician.
