blood work

My husband was diagnosed with Primary  Biliary Cirrohsis
almost 3 years ago.  His cholesterol is 399 (ldl). His doctor seems very concerned but does not want him on cholesterol medication because it is a burden on the liver and is due to this disease.  Also, yesterday we received his latest bloodwork results and found that his bilirubin is elavated 1 point above the normal range.  Iam aware that doctors watch this number in particular.  What advice can you give as to how high does this number(bilirubin) has to be before we start thinking about a liver transplant.  Iam fearful that he may die of a heart attack  before this disease because of his elavated cholesterol.  Please help! Sorry I don't have any specific answers for you, but I would suggest you search the web for information about natural remedies for high cholesterol. As far as the bilirubin level, I don't have a figure for you but I would think he'd definitely have to be in the range that causes jaundice before a transplant is even considered. Again, I'm sure you could find what those numbers would be somewhere on the web. I do know that many "healthy" people have an elevated bilirubin level from time to time for various metabolic reasons, so 1 point out of range is certainly nothing to be alarmed at.
