celiac disease and coordination

My daughter, age 7, has terrible problems with coordination.  She still cannot ride a bike, even with training wheels, and even after hours of instruction. An attempt at using a scooter instead was almost comical, except for the number of injuries sustained.  Her walk varies, but she often walks very much like Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Carribean movies - drunken stumbling, weaving, and bumping on walls, doorframes, and furniture like a pinball.  I am concerned about ataxia.  She also has celiac disease (currently on a gluten free diet), and I am wondering if it could be related.

There is indeed a correlation between ataxia and celiac disease.  Studies have shown this to be under appreciated, but still there.

Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment - other than treating the celiac disease itself.  If there is nerve-related pain, medications can be used to help alleviated it.  Safety measures should also be taken to guard against accidents from the ataxia.
