cholesteral test

  I am so bummed today got my cholesteral test back today, took a fasting after midnight test, it was 277 and mostly bad and high tryglyserides. I have cut out alot but the day before Iate bad could this have hurt the test?Also I have gained weight in the last few years does this also affect cholesteral? I feel defeated. I wonder if walking can help? I have fibromyalgia so I hurt so bad when I do aerobic's.
  I am starting back on the colestid today I went off because I felt sick to my stomach but it could have been the stomach flu but I was on it for Diarhea (diarrhea) fpr post gallbladder removal, now I want to see if it helps my cholesteral My Dr wantd me to try lipitor but I want a fair shot with diet changes and more walking and this cholestid. I am 137 and 5'7" but was always very thin, I gained alot of weight   over five years after a loss of a loved one I had a very hard time handling, I got very down and did not care anymore, I am older now too 38 and it doesn't seem to want to budge. The elevated cholesterol is probably associated with weight gain. Try the low fat diet and colestid and if that doesn't work I would tend to agree with your physician to try other lipid lowering agents (such as lipitor). Serum cholesterol is affected by diet as well. It is probably more accurate to see what happens to your serum cholesterol over time. Good luck to you.
