Hello
Are you saying that you are a Child Pugh Stage B?
Or Status 2B on the waiting list?
(Two totally different things).

If you aren't sure, here's HOW you could tell:
Have you been "evaluated" by a transplant center?
Or just been seeing a doctor?

Child-Pugh Grading and Child Turcotte Pugh Scores are used to calculate "stages" of Cirrhosis.

You receive a point value (score) for each of these things: Encephalopathy (grade), Ascites, Bilirubin (mg/dL), Albumin (g/dL), Prothrombin time .

Then you total your "points" (like a scorecard).
A total of 7 or more, is eligible for a liver transplant (those are UNOS guidelines).

Here's how it works:

Assessing Hepatic Function
Child-Pugh Grading A, B, or C

Encephalopathy (grade):
None..............score 1 point
grade 1 or 2......score 2 points
grade 3 or 4......score 3 points

Ascites:
Absent.............score 1 point
Slight.............score 2 points
Moderate...........score 3 points

Bilirubin (mg/dL):
1 - 2..............score 1 point
2 - 3..............score 2 points
3 .................score 3 points

Albumin (g/dL):
3.5 ................score 1 point
2.8 -3.5 ...........score 2 points
< 2.8 ..............score 3 points

Prothrombin Time (seconds prolonged):
1 - 4...............score 1 point
4 - 6...............score 2 points
> 6.................score 3 points

Total your score.
Sum total score gives grades of
A = 5-6 points
B = 7-9 points
C = > 10 points

HI,  I got on the support page.  I saw how you got the "child score" I think.  My grandmother is the following:

albumin- 3.1
bilirubin- 4.1
PT 1.6

Is she a 10?  How often does your husband's count go up?  How often does he increase a number?

Thanks!  Jenn
