dysmotility-like dyspepsia

My 13yr old daughter was recently diagnosed as having dysmotility-like dyspepsia. The Dr seemed to imply that this was entirely stress-related and apart from taking cisipride there was little he could suggest for her. At times she is in a graet deal of pain, and I feel as though nobody is concerned. Please advise as what to do next, and tell me if this condition is caused entirely by stress. Thankyou

Dear Lynda,
dysmotility-like dyspepsia is a term used to describe patients with gastrointestinal symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, possibly vomiting and possibly poor appetite.  The implication of this diagnosis is that there is no organic (identifiable) cause.  Have the appropriate tests been done: gastric emptying study? upper endoscopy?  Therapy is tailored to treat any identifiable problems.
