ectasia cautery

I Just had a screening colonoscopy,1 polyp was removed and an ectasia was cauterized. I understand the polyp removal, but I dont understand why the ectasia was cauterized. I understand these are common. I have no medical problems and it cost me an additional procedure bill. Is this common practice during colonoscopy? What questions do I ask my doctor?

Difficult to answer without seeing the actual report.

It is possible that the ectasia was cauterized pre-emptively.  Because of its potential to bleed, the physician may have cauterized it to prevent this occurance.

However, I would ask your personal GI physician this question.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
