esophagial spasms- Is there a surgical procedure that can help??

I have been diagnosed with esophagial spasms.  I have had a positive monametry and have had several scopes done.  I have tried many medications but the only one I have found to relive my severe chest pains is Nitro.  I experience relief within miniutes after placing the Nitro under my tounge.  The episodes happen about 5 times a week.  I am uncomfortable taking medications and don't want any long term effects from the Nitro.  Has there been a sucessful surgery preformed to control esophagial spasms??  Any information would be greatly appriciated as I am having trouble locating information on this type of spasms.  Thank you

Hi,
Im a speech therapist working with swallowing disorders and Ive come across three treatment approaches to reduce oesophageal spasm. They start from the most conservative;
1) Botulin Toxin injection into upper esophageal sphincter
2) Pharyngeal plexus neurotomy (cutting of nerves to reduce amount of innervation)
3) Myotomy (nerve resection) of innervation to upper oesophageal segment.

Look them up!!
