flat stool ? cancer ? scare me !

flat stool ? cancer ? scare me !

hello every one !

back in 1994, I have blood stool for about 1 month, I went to see a family physician and he ordered a Barium Enema , but when the nurse insert the tube into my rectum I felt so painful and irritable that I asked her to quit .. then the MD referred me to see a surgeon, , he just prescribed me to take more fibre ..

several years later ...

I have blood in stool again in early 2001, so I went to see a MD, and he referred me to see a specialist (gastro), and have a
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy done .. this time I endure the pain until it finished .. the specialist told me that there is no cancer, no polyn , no fissure ...

I have flat (thin) stool for a long time, at least several years already ...

if flat (thin) stool is a sign of cancer, should I have died long time ago ? Could flat stool caused by something else ? could somebody tell me the truth ????

P/S I have been taking antidepressant for several years, could it has any effect on my stool ??

thank you !

Flat stools can be produced by several diseases, including IBS, ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease.

Colorectal cancer have not specific symptoms, all of them can be produced by several other diseases, as hemorroids (hemorrhoids), infections or idiopatic diseases (no patologic).

But, as usual, the best thing you can do is to visit a doctor. Only he/she/it can help you.

Greetings.

You should insist on a colonoscopy.  A sigmoidoscopy does not show the entire colon. You may have a polyp further up in the colon which could cause the stool to be flat.  I would insist on seeing another Gastroenterologist.  Good Luck!

Stop worrying about having cancer!!!!  And, stop worrying about dying!!!   If you believe you have cancer then you will.  Stop the negative thinking, for heavens sake!     Your emotions have a lot to do with your physical health.  You might have a nervous stomach which is creating a loose stool.   Relax!  Pray!  Meditate!  Enjoy life and live one day at a time!

You should pray, yes, but at the same time, go to dr. and have a thorough inspection done.  I believe that God heals, He has healed me before or a heart problem, but I believe also that God has blessed us with doctors who have knowledge and can be a blessing to us.
DO see your dr.  If I would have set back and relaxed and said 'oh well' when I had shortness of breath, then what I had would have killed me.  See a doctor and don't stop until you are satisfied.  Best wishes!  Chad

Dear Dragonfly

I have also been experiencing flattened stool, getting flatter and flatter over the last year and a half. For the last six months, however, I have had occasional blood in my stool, and am experiencing increasingly severe constipation, discharges of muccus rather than poo, and a lot of fatige and weariness. The last couple weeks, I have also seen a decrease in my appetite, and have vomitted a few times in the last two months.

I pray and meditate, worship and study spiritual things on a regular basis (LOL). In truth, I am not really afraid of what is happening, and have no intention of going to a doctor about it. If I have something, than I do. The world is overcrowded and I am not exactly indespensible... there are more worlds than this to be explored :).

But! I have also been taking anti-depressants... Paxil to be exact... which may account for all of it! Who knows. Anxious for everyone's thoughts.

Agape :)
