four questions about gastritis

A member of my family recently contacted gastritis from alcohol apparently caused by alcolol. Is a person  contactng gastritus in this manner necessarily an alcoholic?  What is the difference between acute and chronic gastritis?  As I understand gastritis is easily detected in the blood by enzymes that show up.  Finally, what is the cure for gastritus?  Thank-you.

Scroll way down the board and you will see the lenghty discussion on chronic gastritis. Acute is severe pain, just not chronic. Chronic means it's there all the time. Some of us here have chronic gastritis and so far, it hasn't gone away. As far as medications, it depends on the cause. If not bacteria, than acid meds are given. You can definitely get it by drinking too much as well as smoking too much. An alcoholic is someone who drinks chronicly. Everyday. Scroll down and read through the chronic gastritis posts. How long has this person had it? Does he/she drink a lot?
