galbladder removal

galbladder removal

I had my galbladder removed four years ago and since then have had chronic diareah continuously. Is this normal for people that have had their galbladder removed? I have tried everything to stop it but nothing seems to work.  The only thing that works is if I don't eat anything.  After eating any kind of meal within about ten minutes the diareah starts and continues for hours.

It could be your body doesn't do well with fats. I've heard that this is common with post gallbladder patients. I use questran. It binds the bile and causes you to have more formed stool.

I just had my gallbladder out in January and experienced the same problems as you. After trying several of the Proton Pump Inhibitors (Nexium, Prilosec) I found Prevacid. I has all but stopped the bathroom runs. You have to try them out and see which one works best for you. I also eat small frequent meals.  I lost 50 pounds in last 6 months with this method. Stay away from candy and sweets as well as coffee. I thought it would kill me to give it up as well, but it stopped the suffering. Good Luck.
