gastroparesis

Posted By Gwen Forrest on July 11, 1999 at 09:46:11
I have recently been diagnosed with gastroparesis, after four months of epigastric discomfort, full feelilng after eating small quantities.  In my research into this condition it has been mentioned that being hypothyroid can be a causitive factor.  I am not diabetic (as often seems the cause) but  have been hypothyroid for 10 years.  How is this established as a cause?
Four years ago,  after similar symptoms, I was diagnosed with Esophogeal Reflux and took Losec for 10 days each time symptoms were flare.  I am now wondering if I haven't had delayed gastric emptying  all along.  I have lost 16 pounds and find it very difficult  to know what I can and cannot eat - even avoiding fats. Any advice?
