h. pylori

My Upper GI showed possible gastritis caused by h. pylori (i was surprised that this was possible via UGI). I was ordered endoscopy to confim the diagnosis. What is the advantage of doing endoscopy vs. stool or breath tests to diagnose h. pylori. I'm 37 year old male. Should i be worried about infecting my wife

The endoscopy would be the most specific way to confirm the diagnosis, more accurate than the breath test or blood antibody test.

H pylori can be contagious, so it's imperative to ensure good hygiene, such as meticulous hand-washing.

The treatment is normally with two antibiotics as well as a proton pump inhibitor.
