hemangioma

I am a 37 year old male who has been experinecing IBS symptoms for the past four months. After a ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, some lesions on the liver were found, some large. I am scheduled to go get a CT scan in two days. The doctor believes it may be hemagioma. Could the IBS symptoms be related. Additionally, my mother was diagnosed with hemangioma 10 years ago on her liver which were resected. Could it be hereditary ?
  Thank you

Dear Anthony,
Hemangiomas are not related to irritable bowel syndrome. Etiologic (causative factors) associations for hemangioma have not been identified.  Good luck with the CT scan.
