high direct bilirubin levels 3 weeks after birth

My son was born suffering from plancental asphixia. Most of the complications subsided however his direct bilirubin levels remained elevated and then began to rise 2 weeks after birth. Along with this his ast level rose to 299 and his ggt was also elevated. Ammonia lelvels were also above normal. The ast, ggt, and ammonia have come down but are still above normal and the direct bilirubin level has stabilized but is also well above normal levels. His liver was found to be slightly enlarged after an ultrasound. What could be causing these levels to remain high and what can be done?
Dear Dennis,
Unfortunately, the Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases Forum no longer has the availability of a pediatric gastroenterologist. You might want to post this message in the Maternal Child Forum.
