high ggt

My husband went to the Dr. for blood work 2 weeks ago.  The results were AST 45* ALT 115* GGT 275* Cholestrol 221* Tri 192* HDL 62.  The Dr. is concerned about the GGT b/c normal is 0-65.  He has not had any beer since the results came back.  He would usually drink at least a 6 pack a night.  I have mentioned to him in the past he drinks to much but will not give it up.  He is on several high blood pressure medications.  He feels that the levels are high b/c of the medication.  Will his levels go down when he goes back for more blood work this week?  Could this be from the beer, the medication or something else I may be overlooking?
Any information will be greatly appreciated
  Thank you

Certainly the alcohol can raise the GGT levels.  It would be a good idea to abstain and recheck the enzymes a few weeks later.

It may be possible for some blood pressure medications to raise the enzymes, but the alcohol is the more likely possibility - since he usually drinks a 6 pack per night.

I would consider checking for viral hepatitis (to be safe - this can also increase the liver enzymes), as well as perform a liver ultrasound.

You may want to discuss these options with your personal physician.
