immodium side affect....

immodium side affect....

I dont take immodium often, as my Dr said that it is bad for
you, but I did last Sunday because my diarrhea was back and I had to do things with my 3 year old. I noticed that the next day
I had to pee every hour, and pee would come out!  This lasted
a couple of days. I already have bad bladder control after 2 kids, but this was much worse. I remember this happening in the fall and thinking urinary track infection, but they never did find one. I think I took immodium back then.  So i wonder if
this is just a side affect.  Anyone else?

Imodium can sometimes have the rare side effect of urinary retention.  I have not heard of it having the opposite affect.

I have taken imodium (immodium) for ten years now on a regular basis, and I  know what you are talking about, but I don't think that it is the imodium (immodium) though I'm no doctor, I think it just might be that you have stopped the bowel movements with the imodium (immodium) which causes presure on your bladder.  I have frequent blood and urine test done because of autoimmune disease, and everything comes out just fine.  It's funny because my GI doctor told me that imodium (immodium) wouldn't hurt me, but he just did not want me not to rely on it so much, and that was ten years ago.  I hope I have eased your mind a little, but if you keep having the symptoms after taking imodium (immodium) then maybe your body just reacts to it differently so you should talk to your doctor.  Good luck.
