juvenille polyps

juvenille polyps

I have Barretts Esophagus and Juvenille Polyps. I was wondering if the Juvenille Polyps will become cancerous eventually. I have an endoscopy every year and a colonoscopy every 2 years. The polyps are always removed and sent for pathology. I have looked for information on Juvenille Polyps and haven't found any.  Thank you

Polyps do not always become cancerous, but...it is more likely that IF malignamcy is to be found, it will originate from the polyp.

We have Familial juvenile polyposis, which means several members of our family have juvenile polyps. In our case it is heriditary. I would suggest if you need more information contact Creighton Heridetary Cancer Dept. and Also the University of Iowa Hospital has a Dr. there that is doing research into juvenile polyps.
