: I have recently been waking up very close to 2am every morning
with minor heart palpitations. Someone told me that this time
   of day is frequently
when the liver starts being active. I have been taking a lot of
  cold medicines and vitamines lately,
is it feasible that overworking the liver is causing me to jump up?
  Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your interesting question.  People with end stage liver disease often have a reversal of the day-night sleep pattern.  They will not sleep well at night and be sleepy during the day.  They also have difficulty concentrating.  It is possible that your awakening at night and heart palpitations are the result of the cold medications that you are taking.
