A couple questions, some of which I'm sure your doctor asked you: Do you drink or take drugs/medications? Have you in the past? Do you have an extremely high level of anxiety? Were all your labs normal? Did you have an upper GI endoscopy? Any pain? Keep pursuing this til you have an answer - you shouldn't have to suffer like that. Get all your test results and take them to a new doctor if you have to, or several if that's what it takes.

My son also has morning vomiting, and when he's not vomiting, he has dry heaves.  He has gone through an entire summer of GI tests, all which have come back negative (blood work, stool and urine tests, upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, etc.)  He also had an MRI of the brain to rule out any mass or pressure on the brain, which causes similar symptoms in the a.m.  Currently, he's waiting for test results from an allergist, and next month he's going to a neurologist.  It's very frustrating to not have answers and in turn not being able to treat the condition.  Keep persisting...you know when something's wrong, and I for one am tired of drs. chalking up things they can't pinpoint to a virus or nerves.  Good luck!

I'm not an expert on this, but here are SOME POSSIBLE CAUSES of nausea & vomiting. Most of these causes were listed in my old Medical Book, Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (1964) (page 109-110). Ask a good doc (or docs) about each of these:

1) liver infection, like hepatitis, with inflammation of the duodenum (first part of small intestine)

2) obstructions of the common bile duct ("biliary colic")

3) acute peritonitis

4) acute obstructions of the small intestine (including "paralytic ileus")

5) certain cases of acute appendicitis have hardly any pain, but have a lot of vomiting

6) carcinoma of the stomach

7) liver disease

8) congestive heart failure, causing congestion of the organs in the abdomen, or nausea & vomiting may result "from the frequently associated uremia, sometimes due to salt depletion". (Ask a doctor to explain this, as it is confusing to non-doctors, including me.) Uremia means certain nitrogen containing substances stay in the blood, instead of going out with urine. See a good CARDIOLOGIST.

9)"the crisis of hyper-thyroidism"--See a good ENDOCRINOLOGIST, about this overactivity of the thyroid gland.

10) hypo-parathyroidism, OR acute hyper-parathyroidism--See a good ENDOCRINOLOGIST about these glands that are close to the thyroid gland.

11) ADDISON'S DISEASE, where cortisone-like hormones are not being secreted enough by the ADRENAL GLANDS. Some causes of this can be an INFECTION of the adrenal glands, like TUBERCULOSIS. Another possible cause of this is BLEEDING into the adrenal glands, or a TUMOR of the adrenal glands. See a good ENDOCRINOLOGIST.

12) at the onset of DIABETIC ACIDOSIS--Get checked for diabetes.

13) acute NEPHRITIS, which is inflammation of the kidneys, due to infection &/OR toxic materials (drugs, chemicals, pesticides, etc.). Note: PESTICIDES include INSECTICIDES (bug killers, used in PET FLEA COLLARS, pet flea lotions, etc), HERBICIDES (weed killers, used on manicured lawns), and FUNGICIDES (fungus killers used on golf courses, etc.)   See a good UROLOGIST.

14) The artificial sweetener NUTRASWEET (also called EQUAL, & ASPARTAME) breaks down into METHANOL (METHYL ALCOHOL), which is poisonous, and can cause nausea & vomiting (among other bad effects).

15) high blood pressure, from brain swelling (cerebral edema), or from spasms of cerebral blood vessels. Cerebral edema can also result from going to a high altitude location. See a good NEUROLOGIST.

16) NERVOUS SYSTEM DISORDERS, such as:
  a) meningitis
  b) migraine headaches
  c) syphilis
  d) MOTION SICKNESS from INNER EAR PROBLEMS

17) "A COMMON and sometimes disturbing cause of MORNING VOMITING is the irritating effect of a post-nasal discharge [DRIP], frequently due to excessive smoking". Also, POST NASAL DRIP can be aggravated by GASTRO-ESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE AND/OR BY A SINUS CONDITION!!!

18) ULCERS

19) GIARDIA (or other) INFECTION OF THE SMALL INTESTINES caused by drinking contaminated stream or lake water while "camping out", or from a bad water treatment plant having inadequate filters.

20) Parasitic worms

21) Avoid cooking in aluminum cookware, because aluminum can be leached out by liquids, and then ingested, causing neurological problems.

22) Some people have adverse (bad) reactions to vaccinations (immunizations), AND/OR to various other medications.

23) Sometimes, poisoning can occur from being exposed to toxic chemicals that "outgass" from NEW CARPETS, NEW BUILDING MATERIALS, NEWLY REMODELED AREAS, etc., especially in "SICK BUILDINGS" that have windows that don't open, or have bad ventilation systems.

Find some GOOD DOCS who will help to find out what's causing the nausea & vomiting, and help correct this problem. Good luck!
