nausea for two years

nausea for two years

I have been experiencing nausea every morning for the past two years. The nausea is mostly in the morning and clears up in the afternoon. It is very debilitating and caused me to have to resign from my job. I have and HMO. The GI doctor orderd ph study manometry and motility study both negative. He also did a endoscopy all normal. Last year I decided to seek another opinion and was seen by a private GI doctor. He also did a endoscopy, colonoscopy ordered a ct scan of my brain ,small bowel series,ct scan of my abdomen and gastic nuclear swalling test. The ct scan showed that I have thicking of the wall of the atrium? Also the endoscopy, the private doctor perfomed, showed gastritis .The colonoscopy showed some IBS, hemhroids and polyps.
I have taken zantac, protonix, tagamet, reglan. Zofran for the nausea none has helped. I have taken zoloft and ceprexa for mentalproblems since one doctor said it is all in my head!
I have lost 20 lbs which i needed to loose. Also I have had my ears , nose and throat checked. Eyes and female parts. All in good shape.
My question is could I hve gastroperisis ? I have read alot about how the swallow test and gastric empting might not always show a problem? Thatand EGG might show gastoperisis?
My private doctor thinks I have Gerd? I am taking 20mg of prilosec a day this seems to keep the burning in my stoamch under control but doesn't due much for the nausea .I take the prilosec in the morning after breakfast.
I also had a consult with the University of San Francisco and the doctor said he couldn't help me. Since none of the test showed anything that bad to cause the nausea.
Any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated . I forgot to mention that I get fatigued when I feel nauseas
I have also been checked for diabetes ,throid and other major blood problems.

Thank you

Tough situation.  You have had pretty much every test that I can think of to evaluate for nausea, including some of the more specialized tests like a gastric emptying test and 24-hr pH study.  To answer your question about gastroparesis - it is unlikely that it is present if your gastric emptying scan was normal.  It is also unlikely that you have GERD if the 24-hr pH study was normal.

You have even had a CT scan of the brain, looking for CNS causes.  You can consider a brain MRI for a more thorough evaluation.

At this time, I cannot think of further GI testing to consider.  You can also inquire about another opinion for further guidance. In the meantime, symptommatic treatment with Zofran is a reasonable option.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

As to being sick to your stomach every day - I can relate to that.  I have all the Hepatitus (hepatitis)'s - A,B and C - although I show no symptoms and my doctor doesn't seem to be worried with my blood test results. I guess that makes me a carrier? I've had Lyme Disease, I have high blood pressure and a thyroid condition too. BUT - I am so nauseas sp? almost every day - and it's been at about 3 or 4 years now!  Some days are worse than others - and it's not just the mornings but it's mostly the mornings.  Like having permanent morning sickness.  I have mentioned it to my doctor several times and he just nods - I guess because I don't actually throw up - he's not concerned. I just want it to stop! I'm not even sure it's from the Hep - but my gut feeling is that it is - (I've checked other possible reasons - like hypo or hyperglycemia.)  Also nothing seems to work on it - (like Pepto Bismo or other over the counter remedies).  So once in a while - I hit the internet in search of a reason for the nausea - or better yet - a cure.  Got any good remedies for it?  Anybody?
