need help with gastro probs

i have had colon surgery for diverticulitis disease  i still have pain(serious at times) in the left and right side of my lower ab.area  my bowels still seem to have problems moving.but the strangest of things, ever sense the surgey when i pass gas it burns. i told my gastro after the surgery that my stool burns when i have a bowel movement he said it would pass once my functions returned to normal(which is not the case)now the flatus is burning when passed .i need to know if this is a serious matter ,because latley i have also been diagnosed with a brain tumor that is causing epilepsy(seizures) and no meds are working so they are talking surgery at this time . if any one has any info it would be of great help.also i have gerd ,portal varices ,cirrhosis, mvp ,ibs,hep c,(hep c was contracted during one of my surgeries)and many other  health problems the hep c has caused but they are to many in #s to mention .so any and all information would help thank you for your time  ,god bless.wishing you well

There are many causes of rectal/anal pain or discomfort.  I suggest you see your personal physician to further evaluate this.

Hard stools may cause the pain. Often, passing a hard stool may cause a small tear in the lining of the anal canal, a condition called anal fissure. The fissure may heal slowly because of repeated injury with each bowel movement. Drinking more water or taking medications to soften your stools may help, as may using anti-inflammatory creams to reduce anal swelling. Another cause of painful defecation can be an abscess in the soft tissues surrounding the rectum and anus. Hemorrhoids, which are enlarged veins, can also cause painful defecation if a blood clot has formed (thrombosed) within them.  Your history of portal varices would increase your chances of hemorrhoids.

Other causes can include anorectal stricture, herpes proctitis, prostatitis, colon polyps, rectal abscess, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel syndrome, anorectal cancer, or anorectal cysts.

Because of the wide range of causes, I suggest having this further evaluated.

thank you so much for your time and reply but it still does not explain why passing gas would fill like heat being passed to the point it burns.is there any other reason besides hemmies that could cause this .i am not sure if i am repeating the question or not.it is just strange that gas would fill so hot .thanks again for your time i know with all our questions on the forum you are streched thin .again i am greatful for your reply .god bless wishing you well

Any one of the conditions I have described may increase anorectal sensitivity and cause discomfort when passing gas.  That is why this should definitely be further evaluated.

once again thank you for your time i am greatful for your responce.  i will go to my gastro soon and have another colonoscopy done which i was trying to avoid because i have gone through so many surgeries, i try not to be put under any more than i have to .at this point i guess you could call it being gun shy .but when it comes down to bare facts i can't afford to be ,so i will take your advice respectfully.thank you for careing enough to help us get through our hardships .god blesss,wishing you well
