post Nissen Fundoplication and Osteopenia

I had a laproscopic Fundoplication August 2000 to relieve my GERD.  Post operatively I have suffered dysphagia, diarrhea and gas/bloating.  The diarrhea has been sporatic and the dysphagia is improving.  The gas/bloating is chronic.  I haven't experienced any weight loss.
Recently I discovered that my bone desensity is greatly decreased:  BMD betwn -1.45 and -2.44 in hip and spine.  I am not in a risk group for osteoporosis.  I am 49,with no genetic component.  I exercise and am strong and healthy.  Is it possible that my post operative symtoms (symptoms) adversely affected my absorption of Calcium?   My current lab values for CA and Phosphorus are normal.
Thanks for your help,
Sylvia RN
